When John Macrae wrote his poem In Flanders Fields, he saw not only the hardship and misery of war, but also nature’s attempt to continue on in spite of the chaos.  When we observe this day to remember those who gave their lives, let us remind ourselves  also of “the larks, still bravely singing, fly – scarce heard amid the guns below.”
